Agenesis of the inferior vena cava is an extremely rareabnormality, most often discovered by accident. This paperreports the case of a 41-year-old male patient, admitted to theIIIrd Emergency General Surgery Clinic of the EmergencyUniversity Hospital with the diagnosis of bilateral pelvic limbpost-thrombotic syndrome. According to his personal history hehad the first vascular surgical intervention at the age of 6. Thesurgical indication was determined by large hydrostatic varicoseveins of the lower limbs and the performed surgery wascrossectomy with bilateral stripping of the great saphenousvein. Until admission to our clinic, the patient had repeatedsurgery for recurrent varicose veins of the lower limbs. Thepatient was diagnosed in our service with congenital agenesisof inferior vena cava, the evolution was good and the patientwas discharged after 17 days. This paper presents the clinical, imagistic and therapeutic particularities of such a case.Imagistic detection of early vascular abnormality, identifyingprocoagulant factors and the close care of the local lesion areessential for patient evolution.
