Total primary knee arthroplasty represents a model of severepain for major orthopedic surgery. A good management ofpostoperative pain is important both for the patient and for agood functional surgery outcome because early knee mobilisationis pain limited. This study is a review of the main analgesicmethods used in total primary knee arthroplasty and theirinfluence on pain and on the functional recovery of the knee.The comparative analysis of the analgesic models shows theadvantages and the adverse effects of each one, the evolutionin time of analgesia techniques and guides us in the use ofevidence-based-medicine Which is the most appropriateanalgesic model is a choice of the orthopedic surgeonanesthesiologistand kinetotherapist team who are able toindividualize for each patient good functional outcome parametersof the new knee joint.
