Clinical case, no. 5, 2013
Verrucous carcinoma is a slow-growing malignancy which, ifneglected, can seriously affect local tissues. We present the case of a 55-year-old male with a 12 9 cm nodular ulceratedlesion in the sacro-gluteal region, poorly defined, with acytologic scrape smear pozitive for squamous cell cacinoma, infiltrating on MRI both gluteal muscles. The initial radiotherapeutictreatment significantly improved local conditionfacilitating the radical excision of the tumor. The resultingdefect, 17 14 cm in size, was covered by V-Y advancement oftwo fasciocutaneous triangulare flaps based on transmuscularperforators from superior and inferior gluteal arteries. Thepatient healed completely and the tumor didn’t relapse inthe past 42 months.
