Professor Doctor Crişan Mircioiu

Criæan Mircioiu was born in Campina in 1913 and died in 2009 at Cluj. As a young student passed the Carpathians entering the Transilvanian academic word to which was settled fast and flawlessly due to intellectual abilities and outstanding adaptability. Like its predecessor, he went through all the academic hierarchy and became professor in 1970, and between 1973 and 1978, he led the Surgical Clinic No. I. Bound by the priesthood of marriage to greate patriot Onisifor Ghibu family, he knew to be up for the position, honoring the family that adopted him and her traditions. He had all outstanding concerns for acute abdominal surgery, area that was worshiped not only in everyday professional practice, but through cultural expression as well. It was a great intellectual, deepley integrated in Cluj’s spiritual life, city which he loved so much and that in turn it cherished him a lot. He campaigned for the enhancement of medicine and Cluj’s spirituality, leaving remarkable biographical evocations about Victor Papilian, Valeriu Bologa and others, and about great doctors and humanists of the planet like Albert Schweitzer as well. Understanding the importance of culture propagation he assumed for years the rector possition in Popular University. It was a person respected by everyone who knew him and he enjoyed hospitality everywhere he passed. Destiny wanted that his exceptional vitality to allow him to become a symbol of fertile longevity. His good human spirit made him constantly very responsive to intimates problemes and needs. It was a constant presence in many medical and cultural events of his time.
