Minimally invasive approach for groin hernia treatment is stillcontroversial, but in the last decade, it tends to become thestandard procedure for one day surgery. We present herein thetechnique of laparoscopic Trans Abdominal Pre Peritonealapproach (TAPP). The surgical technique is presented step-bystep;the different procedures’ key points (e.g. anatomiclandmarks recognition, diagnosis of “occult” hernias, preperitonealand hernia sac dissection, mesh placement andperitoneal closure) are described and discussed in detail, severaltips and tricks being noted and highlighted. Conclusions: TAPPis a feasible method for treating groin hernia associated with lowrate of postoperative morbidity and recurrence. The anatomiclandmarks are easily recognizable. The laparoscopic explorationallows for the treatment of incarcerated strangulated herniasand the intraoperative diagnosis of occult hernias.
